Student Voice Committee is a group of youth leaders from neighborhood Schools in Brighton Park and surrounding neighborhoods who are in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Youth leaders are trained in violence prevention, educational justice, immigrant rights, and organizing. They meet weekly to help organize the Annual BPNC Youth Summit and to make a change in their community through awareness and Intervention.
The Ethiopian Community Association of Chicago offers youth programming that fosters growth, education, and community engagement.

Brighton Park Neighborhood Council partners with neighborhood schools leading a Youth Leadership Club for middle schoolers. 450 middle school students attend the youth summit where they attend workshops on bullying prevention, gang violence prevention, domestic violence prevention, etc.
Corazón Community Services provides restorative justice workshops, gang intervention/mediations, street violence response, court-mandated community service opportunities, and monthly gang tattoo removal.

BUILD helps young people beat the odds by offering year-round after-school and out-of-school programs starting as early as first grade. The Prevention staff get to know the youth and collaborate across BUILD to offer academic assistance, sports, STEM, arts enrichment, and more. They provide leadership development to help children stay safe, healthy, and focused on their futures.

Provides youth programming for middle and high school age youth in Central Iowa. The school based programs are currently available in select schools in the Des Moines School District. These are nine-month programs that are focused on volunteer service, leadership development, and giving students skills they need in order to be successful.

Brighton Park Neighborhood Council (BPNC) believes in empowering youth to be leaders and organizers within their schools and their communities. BPNC engages youth in issue campaigns at the school, city, state and national level through clubs at 10 middle and high schools on the Southwest side. Clubs include DREAMERS & Allies, Student Voice Committees, and Youth Leadership Councils.

Community Organizing Assistance

Youth board with 30 members from 7th to 12th grade from all Buffalo County communities. Provides grants for youth-initiated and youth-led community projects.

Youth tackle a range of social problems that concern them from our economy and environment to safety, tobacco, alcohol, and illegal drugs. Applications are open in the spring for the following school calendar year term on the board. bcchp.org/yab
