NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, peer-led 8-session Education Program, open to adult family
members, significant others, or friends of people who live with mental illness. The course is
taught by trained family members of people living with mental illness.

- Bipolar disorder (manic depression).
- Clinical depression.

The course discusses the clinical treatment of these illnesses and teaches the knowledge and skills that family members need to cope more effectively. Classes are offered twice a year.
NAMI Champaign County also provides monthly educational presentations and can provide an in-service for teachers and staff to help identify the symptoms of mental illness in children.

Mental Health First Aid:
Program is designed to teach people how to help individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis or developing a mental health problem. Provides information on how to recognize common mental health disorders, how to provide initial help, and how to guide individuals towards appropriate professional help.
Adult Mental Health First Aid:
Teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary.
Youth Mental Health First Aid:
Teaches people how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing mental health or addiction challenges, or is in crisis. Primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people.

Family-To-Family:
Provides a free, 12-week course for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illness. The course is taught by trained family members. All instruction and course materials are free to class participants.
Course includes:
- Current information about schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder (manic depression), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, and co-occurring brain disorders and addictive disorders.
- Up-to-date information about medications, side effects, and strategies for medication adherence.
- Current research related to the biology of brain disorders and the evidence-based, most effective treatments to promote recovery.
- Gaining sympathy by understanding the subjective, lived experience of a person with mental illness.
- Learning in special workshops for problem solving, listening, and communication techniques.
- Acquiring strategies for handling crises and relapse.
- Focusing on care for the caregiver: coping with worry, stress, and emotional overload.
- Guidance on location appropriate supports and services within the community.
- Information on advocacy initiatives designed to improve and expand services.
NAMI Basics:
Provides an education program for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illness. Course is taught by trained teachers who are the parent or other caregiver of individual who developed the symptoms of mental illness prior to the age of 13 years. Course consists of 6 classes, each lasting 2 1/2 hours. Classes may be offered weekly for 6 consecutive weeks or may be offered twice per weeks for 3 weeks to accommodate individuals with busy schedules. All instruction materials are free to participants.
Peer-To-Peer:
Provides an experiential learning program for people with any serious illness who are interested in establishing and maintaining their wellness and recovery.
Course includes:
- Consists of 10 2-hour units and is taught by a team of two trained "Mentors" and a volunteer support person who are personally experienced at living with mental illness.
- Mentors are trained in an intensive 3-day training session and are supplied with teaching manuals.
- Participants come away from the course with a binder of hand-out materials, as well as many other tangible resources: an advance directive; a "relapse prevention plan" to help identify tell-tale feelings, thoughts, behavior, or events that may warn of impending relapse and to organize for intervention; mindfulness exercises to help focus and calm thinking; and survival skills for working with providers and the general public.
IOOV:
Provides a public education program in which 2 trained consumer speakers share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery. This program is an opportunity for those who have struggled with mental illness to gain confidence and to share their individual experiences of recovery and transformation. Throughout the presentation, audience members are encouraged to offer feedback and ask questions. Audience participation is an important aspect of IOOV because the more the audience members become involved, the closer they come to understanding what it is like to live with a mental illness and stay in recovery. Presentations are given to consumer groups, students, law enforcement officials, educators, providers, faith community members, politicians, professionals, inmates, and interested civic groups.

NAMI Provider:
Providers a staff development program for healthcare providers, administrative staff, operational staff, and students working directly with people affected by mental illness. Equips participants with a deeper understanding of mental illness and the confidence to serve individuals and families in a collaborative manner. Offered as a 15-hour program spread over 5 sessions or in a 4-hour seminar.
NAMI Homefront:
Provides a free suite of mental health resources for caregivers, family members, military service members, and veterans. Resources are intended to educate and empower the military community in their journey toward mental health recovery and overall well-being. Program covers mental health basics, self-care, common diagnoses, self-improvement, crisis planning, personal perspectives, and recovery.
