Interim and/or Emergency Veterans' Assistance: Assists with rent payments to avoid eviction.
- Emergency Assistance Program: Provides rent assistance to clients in an emergency who have been issued a legal eviction notice if pending for assistance for a State/Federal welfare or entitlement program. - General Assistance Program: Housing/Shelter assistance under General Assistance is $150.00 per month (if eligible). No Eviction notice or Demand Notice required for the General Assistance program.
Emergency financial assistance may be available for electric, water, or rent.
Catholic Charities offers limited emergency assistance for: - Rent (last $100). - Utilities (last $75). - Diapers. - Other basic needs for individuals and families who are experiencing economic hardship. - Assistance based on an immediate precipitating event. - Refers callers to appropriate community agencies that may be able to assist.

Other services may include college scholarships, youth summer camp opportunities, benefit enrollment, employment training and associated required materials. Depending on funding, also offered are foreclosure prevention services, home ownership education services, downpayment savings plan, purchasing education and more.

When funding is available, may provide help with a security deposit or a first month's rent to McHenry County residents who have been unable to save for their move due to no fault of their own.

Provides emergency financial assistance for rent and/or utilities for Kankakee Township residents who've received a legal eviction notice and/or a disconnect notice from their utility supplier. This program is an income based program.

Emergency assistance may be available for rent and utilities. Clients may receive assistance once every 12 months.

Administers the General Assistance Program. Eligible clients may receive a maximum of $435 per month towards rent, utilities (MidAmerican or City of Rock Island), personal needs and food. Vouchers are issued to clients and checks are mailed to the rental property owners. All rental properties must be registered with the City of Rock Island.

Typically, clients are single, unemployed or applying for Social Security Disability (SSDI) and have no other means of financial self-support. The application process can take up to 30 days.

In February or March, the Township usually receives a grant for help to families by paying one month's rent or mortgage. The maximum grant is $450.

Provides monthly assistance to adults who are not receiving, or do not qualify, for programs administered by the Department of Human Services (DHS). Assistance may be provided for basic living needs, such as utilities, shelter, food, personal essentials, and medical care.
