Families of military personnel can apply for financial assistance for a wide range of needs including but not limited to utilities, medical, and car repair. Red Cross also provides information and referral for other services for these families. Red Cross workers use advanced communications technologies to link service members with their families. The Emergency Communications Center quickly and efficiently obtains the required information and sends emergency communication messages to service members of every branch of service wherever in the world they happen to be.

**While some costs may be covered under Federal funding sources, the Crisis Assistance program is largely funded by grants and donations. All Assistance identified above is dependent on available funding.

Provides standard and emergency assistance to Air Force and Space Force families when unexpected financial emergencies arise with no-interest loans and grants. The programs are intended to help meet immediate financial emergency needs and help make a positive step toward a lasting financial solution. Assistance many be in the form of loans or grants.

Assistance programs may help with emergency assistance for rent or utilities, medical or dental care costs, funeral expenses, vehicle expenses (repair, payment, insurance, gas, etc.), pet medical care or transportation to/from an overseas assignment, food, personal hygiene items, child care expenses, and more.

Applicants receiving revolving loan assistance will be required to participate in financial literacy courses in addition to repayment of the loan within an agreed-upon timeframe.

Provides minor car repair assistance for employed individuals with a valid driver's license.
Provides financial assistance for car repairs to individuals who are working full time (at least 40 hours a week) to maintain employment.

The Family Support and Community Engagement (FsACE) provides help with transportation problems, so you can find a job, get to work and school, and access healthcare through vehicle repair assistance and bus and gas cards.
Limited automotive repair and maintenance by ministry-authorized mechanic.
Through the Family Support and Community Engagement (FsACE) program eligible Suburban Cook County families gain or keep employment by funding supportive services to remote financial roadblocks related to education, training, documents, payments, clothing, personal items, and transportation. This program assists SNAP recipients and people at risk of losing housing.

Community Vehicle Checkup offers FREE windshield wiper blade replacements, fluids topped off, battery connector check, light bulb replacement, visual inspection, maintenance related items, and referrals for other services. Car seat safety checks also provided.

Provide minor vehicle repairs to individuals to keep their current vehicle safe so they can maintain their employment. Must already have at least 30 days of employment with paystubs. Must be owner of vehicle with up-to-date insurance coverage.

Individuals may call to request assistance for basic life needs, which may include financial assistance for utilities and rent, furniture, prescriptions (non-narcotic), and car repair. If St. Vincent de Paul may be able to assist, a home visit will need to be scheduled. If St. Vincent de Paul cannot help, the person will receive information regarding other organizations that may be able to assist. Home visits are completed in person and in pairs, to determine how to provide assistance appropriately related to basic needs.

Does not provide assistance for rent deposit.
