The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, mandated by the Older American's Act and the Illinois Act on Aging, works to protect and promote the rights and quality of life for residents living in long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen work to resolve complaints on behalf of people who receive long-term care services.
County department overseeing several community programs, including Aging and Disability Services, Community Development, Family Center, Housing Supports and Self-Sufficiency, and Intake and Referral. The department also provides assistance through the Low Income Housing Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) program and manages the 211 DuPage resource database.

Works to identify or investigate concerns made by or on behalf of people living in long-term care facilities. Assistance may include: investigation and work to resolve the problem, information on laws and regulations, how to choose a long-term care facility or answering questions about life at a facility. Assist callers in level of care needed (info about nursing homes, residential care, elder group homes, assisted living). All services are confidential and free of charge.

Offers to advocate for the rights and needs of Medicaid managed care members in Iowa who live or receive care in a health care facility, assisted living program or elder group home, as well as members enrolled in one of Medicaid's home and community-based services (HCBS) waiver programs (AIDS/HIV, Brain Injury, Children's Mental Health, Elderly, Health and Disability, Intellectual Disability and Physical Disability).

- Advocates for residents who live in licensed, long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, shelter care, assisted living, supportive living, and group homes. - An ombudsman visits facilities regularly to investigate and resolve complaints, provides individual consultations with residents and family members, and informs residents about resident's rights. - An ombudsman can help in situations regarding violation of resident's rights, physical, verbal, or mental abuse, inadequate or poor quality care, accidents or improper handling, involuntary or improper discharge from facility, building safety issues, end of life issues, and more.
Case Management Services (CMS) helps to coordinate and manage care on behalf of the client. Grants are offered to assist with chore, housekeeping, lifeline, and respite care.
