Brighton Park Neighborhood Council's Summer Youth Employment program to provide over 80 youth with summer jobs. Through the program, youth gain meaningful job experience and participate in leadership development and college and career readiness workshops. BPNC has placed students at local businesses and credit unions, non-profit organizations, schools, and even an animal hospital.?
Summer Work Experience Program (SWEP): An eight-week summer employment opportunity that matches teens with businesses and organizations that match their personal preferences, skills and support needs. SWEP participants will work 20 hours a week and receive minimum wage.
Provides employment and training to youth in the City of St. Louis and Northern St. Louis County.
Helps young adults who are in high school and have disabilities find summer employment opportunities.

Provides outreach, emergency shelter, interim housing, and transitional living services to homeless youth ages 16-24. Services include:

-- Shelter and/or Housing

-- Individual counseling

-- Drug and alcohol assessments

-- Tutoring for GED and High School diplomas

-- Employment services

-- Money management

-- Life Skills

-- Referrals with other community resources.

Youth under the age of 18 will reside at shelter located in Springfield. Those over 18 may reside at the shelter, receive interim emergency housing in a community apartment, or reside in their own community-based apartments.

Summer Work Experience (SWE): A 6 week summer employment opportunity that pairs teens with businesses and organizations that is designed help build work skills and self confidence. SWE participants will work 20 hours a week, receive minimum wage and 24 hours worth of social skills training.

Vocational Rehabilitation and Special Education share responsibility in preparing youth with disabilities for transition from high school to post-high school employment, education, specialized training and independence. Provides assessment of individual to determine extent of disability and evaluates to determine types of work best suited to the individual.
Summer Teen Employment Program (STEP): Provides a 6-week summer employment opportunity for teens with developmental disabilities. Offers paid, work-based learning experiences in community businesses and receive job coaching and employment skills training.
Youth Services include: - Work Experience (when available). - Internships and Apprentice programs. - Referral to other appropriate agencies and services. - Comprehensive assessments and development of Individual Employment Plans. - Career planning. - Job readiness training. - Occupational skills training. - Vocational training (up to a maximum of two years). - On-the-job training. - Customized training. - Incumbent worker training. - Support services during training. - Follow up services.
Southwestern Illinois workNet Center provides youth 16-24 years of age assistance with developing and achieving career and educational goals.
Provides youth 16 thru 24 years of age assistance with developing and achieving career and educational goals. Services to youth include help with: - Attaining a high school diploma, GED, or other credential. - Creating a resume. - Increasing basic skills in reading, math, and language. - Securing employment or post-secondary education/training. - Maintaining contact with participants for 12 months following program completion.
Education/training in approved training programs in local community colleges: - Tuition. - Books. - Fees. - Required tools. - Additional items required by the program. Supportive services, such as: - Mileage reimbursement. - Child care. - Car repair. - Tires. - Help with any qualified item. Work Experience: Subsidizes wages at a local employer for 1 to 6 months to help customer gain experience to gain permanent employment. On-The-Job Training: Subsidizes half of hourly wage for a set period of time at a local employer with the intention of the employer retaining the customer after training is complete.
