Available at no cost to individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking to communicate freely with family, friends and businesses over the telephone. Equipment and standard long distance charges may apply.
Heartland Alliance's Cross Cultural Interpreting Services (CCIS) is a full-service language provider specializing in interpretation and translation services. The program was established in 1996 to improve access to services for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) individuals.

Provides operators to relay conversations between people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, and those they wish to communicate with by telephone. Service offered 24 hours a day. Both TTY callers and voice callers may use relay service to communicate. Services are available in both English and Spanish.

Offers to assist clients in getting free amplified phones, cell phone amplifiers, Captel phones, and TTY for anyone that has a qualified landline telephone or cell phone company. Center staff will help with the paperwork and testing for an amplified telephone and cell phone amplifier (cellular phones must be bluetooth capable).

Assists in conversations between text telephone users and hearing individuals who use a standard phone. Trained operators relay conversations by typing spoken words into a text telephone unit and speaking the typed words received from the text telephone caller. Also handles Telebraille calls for deaf and blind users and Speech to Speech calls for individuals whose speech is unintelligible (e.g., someone who has Lou Gehrig's disease).
Provides a relay operator and voice recognition software to translate an operator's spoken word to text. Call 7-1-1 for services or (800)676-3777 for more information.
