BEACON also allows families to submit referrals, upload documents, track the status of their requests, and connect with Resource Coordinators and Clinical Specialists within the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR), who can assist with navigating available resources.

Operates eight intellectual and developmental disability community homes (group homes) which enable an adult to live in their own apartment with support and assistance. Staff help individuals build independent living skills such as budgeting, grocery shopping, and housekeeping. Also provides psycho-social support to help participants cope with daily stresses.

Community homes provide a family living environment where adults share a home in the community with up to seven peers, under staff supervision. The residents share in all aspects of running a group home, such as cooking, cleaning, and grocery shopping.
