City of Chicago's select ward offices will act as an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center to support residents in accessing U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) assistance. The SBA disaster declaration will allow homeowners, renters, businesses, and certain nonprofit organizations in Cook County and across northeastern Illinois to apply for low-interest disaster loans to support recovery efforts. This includes loans of up to $500,000 for real estate repairs, up to $100,000 for personal property and up to $2 million for businesses for physical damages. Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) are also available to eligible small businesses and nonprofits experiencing financial losses as a result of the storms. Passport to Manhood engages young boys in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership, and positive behavior. Each participant receives a "passport" to underscore that he is on a personal journey of growth and maturation. Each of the program's 14 sessions uses interactive activities to focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood. Passport to Manhood culminates in a service project where boys learn the importance of service to their community.

The four buildings on Chicago's north side and in Skokie each feature an on-site manager, maintenance staff, social service coordinators, and activity staff, of which several are fluent in Russian. They organize holiday events, and plan frequent outings for residents, including visits to museums, sporting events, and community presentations.To be able to successfully "live in place," residents and family members work with service coordinators to arrange necessary services; they can also mediate, educate, and advocate on the residents' behalf.
